In the summer of 2020, we purchased a home in South Land Park, a pleasant residential neighborhood on the south side of Sacramento. We took a spontaneous day trip to Sacramento the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, and things moved swiftly from there. We saw the house we ended up buying that day. Photos from the listing are below.

This is a lot more house than we had before, and the rooms are huge. Furnishing has been a real project. Adding shots here as we tackle each room.

Our first project was to clean up the garage. Conspicuously not photographed for the listing, it hadn’t been touched probably since the house was built. The floor was a dowdy dark red, with olive drab cabinets. We brought in a guy to clean it up, epoxy the floor, spray out the interior, and paint the cabinetry. We chose to make the cabinets the same blue as the bar area.

Next up: Landscaping. The grounds have been pretty neglected, so it’s a great opportunity to put our mark on it. The work began the Monday after Thanksgiving. Here are the plans.

New awning went up out back. This will be instrumental during the brutal heat of summer, and makes for a nice sheltered area to hang out even in winter.
